Jonas Andersson

Jonas Andersson“Is it true what they say about Jonas?”

I am primarily a researcher and scholar of media & communications. I was born in 1978 and grew up in Stockholm, Sweden. After my long stay in London between 2002 and 2008 I now live in Sweden again. I went to London in 2002 for an MA in Global Media & Transnational Communications. Then I stayed for a while, and enrolled on the PhD programme at Goldsmiths, University of London. While pursuing my PhD I worked as a seminar tutor and a freelancer.

I now live in Sweden again, working as a freelance writer and translator whilst acting as a supervisor, seminar leader and lecturer in Higher Education, and working on various publications (both as a writer and an editor). In June 2010 I went back to London to have my viva, which I passed (without revisions or modifications). The PhD thesis is complete! Its subject has been hotly debated in the last years: file-sharing. More precisely, it is on how Swedish file-sharers motivate their actions and opinions. Read more about it in the academic section.

During my years in London and Stockholm, I have been dabbling in a lot of areas and lines of work. Besides being a media researcher and sociologist, I have worked as a freelancer in the following areas:

graphic design
music production
writing
translation
editing and managing printed publications

This homepage is an attempt to summarize my various projects in a comprehensive way. You will find general information, articles and academic texts, alongside other bits and pieces that might be of interest.
